Once received my reference number, I sent my application to the Embassy in Canberra which included the following documentation (2 application forms with reference number quoted on them, 2 photos of me, my passport, a money order for $102, and AS OF SEPTEMBER 2011 YOU MUST ATTACHED PROOF OF TRAVEL INSURANCE - which I did). I sent all this by express post on a Thursday, and on Monday the following week I got my passport back in the mail with the visa inside. IranianVisa was extremely helpful in my endeavor to get a visa. They provided assistance and replied within 24 hrs every time I sent an email. Overall great service.

Some details of our experience for your website
The Iranian embassy's details are as follows:
Embassy Address:
25 Culgoa Circuit O'Malley ACT 2606
Postal Address:
PO Box 705 , Mawson ACT 2607
Phone: (02)62907000
Fax: (02)62902825
Consular Section : [email protected]

When you call the number there is a voice message saying that embassy staff are available to take phone calls between 12 and 2.30 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We tried dozens of times but no one ever picked-up and there was no way to leave a message. I also sent a couple of unanswered emails. Feeling somewhat despondent after not being able to establish contact on Monday or Wednesday, we sent a fax on Thursday and received a phone call later that day. I spoke to a helpful staff member who gave me all the details and documents needed to get visas into passports.
- Passport
- x2 passport photos (headscarf on for the ladies)
- x2 completed application forms (not sure why two are required)
- Bank cheque, Fee for Australians $102 AUD for French $85 AUD
- Reply paid, self addressed, return express post envelope
- The confirmation email from with details of the authorisation

I sent all of the above on Friday and received the passports back the following Friday.
Everything worked out fine though I would recommend that people planning to visit Iran begin the process of applying for visas AT LEAST 6 weeks before departure.
Good luck and thanks to for their help and guidance
